CRWF’s featured currently enrolling studies include asthma, cardiovascular disease, COPD, cutaneous lupus, eczema, elevated lipoprotein (Lp(a)), gout, hypertension, knee osteoarthritis, psoriatic arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, Sjögren’s Syndrome, and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Maximum compensation for completed participation varies by trial, from $700 to $3,300. Clinical trials change frequently, so check each study page for current details.

A clinical trial is a research study designed to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of new medications, therapies, devices, or treatment approaches in humans. Clinical trials progress through phases: Phase I tests safety and dosage in a small group, Phase II evaluates effectiveness and continues safety monitoring, Phase III involves larger groups to confirm effectiveness and compare against existing treatments, Phase IV monitors long-term effects after approval, and Phase V focuses on real-world population studies. All clinical trials follow detailed protocols approved by regulatory agencies and Institutional Review Boards (IRBs) to ensure participant safety.

Yes. Qualified participants in CRWF clinical trials may be compensated for their time and travel. Compensation varies by study. Currently enrolling trials list compensation of up to $700 for the hypertension study and up to $3,300 for the gout study, with other studies in between. Study-related care is provided at no cost to participants.

No. Health insurance is not required to participate in any clinical trial at Clinical Research of West Florida. All study-related care is provided at no cost to qualified participants.

Since 1995, CRWF has conducted clinical trials across more than 40 therapeutic areas including rheumatology conditions (rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, gout, lupus, Sjögren’s Syndrome, osteoporosis, fibromyalgia), dermatology (atopic dermatitis, hidradenitis suppurativa), pain management (chronic pain, post-herpetic neuralgia, radiculopathy), respiratory (asthma, COPD, sleep apnea), cardiovascular (hypertension, hyperlipidemia), gastroenterology (Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, IBS, diverticulitis), endocrinology (Type 2 diabetes, diabetic neuropathy, obesity), women’s health (endometriosis, uterine fibroids, hot flashes), plus vaccine trials, medical device studies, healthy volunteer studies, and virtual clinical trials.

Each clinical trial has specific eligibility criteria based on age, medical diagnosis, current medications, and health status. To check eligibility, visit the individual study page for the condition you’re interested in and complete the online eligibility form. The CRWF study team will review your medical history, confirm whether you meet the criteria for the relevant trial, and schedule a screening visit if you qualify.

CRWF brings experience across all phases of clinical trials, from Phase I to Phase V. CRWF’s experience also includes vaccine trials, medical device studies, observational studies, virtual trials, and trials involving healthy volunteers. Early-phase research is supported by the dedicated Phase One unit in Clearwater.

CRWF’s clinical trials are conducted at three Tampa Bay area facilities: the main Clearwater research facility at 2147 NE Coachman Road, the dedicated Phase One unit at 2135 NE Coachman Road (also in Clearwater), and the Tampa facility at 605 N. Howard Ave. Different studies run at different locations, and the individual study page for each trial lists the specific facility or facilities where it is conducted.
