Uterine fibroids are benign tumors that originate in the uterus (womb). Although they are composed of the same smooth muscle fibers as the uterine wall (myometrium), they are much denser than normal myometrium. Symptoms can include pain in abdominal and lower back region, abdormal or painful menstruation, and more. Local doctors are looking for individuals interested in participating in a clinical research studies of an investigational medication.
